Presentation

This is question 4 and is still in development, I have added more interactive links in and also photo's. This is to keep the reader engaged, and also transitions have been added to keep it more entertaining.

How effective is the combination of your main product and your ancillary texts?

In the modern day film industry, films promote themselves by using additional texts such as posters and magazine pieces. Two of the texts that we created, a poster and magazine had to compliment our trailer to promote it, and therefore had to link together to create a successful synergy between them.

Our poster is effective as it doesn't create a clear image of what the film is about, and creates a sense of mystery. This is good because our film is of the horror/mystery genre, and by not giving too much away would draw the audience in. Our poster links to the trailer by use of font, colour and the lack of clearness about the film.

Our magazine front cover also highlighted the genre and ideas surrounding our trailer. By including an image of ourselves as the actors and crew of the film, we portrayed the idea that it was a guerilla film. We also used general key elements from the horror genre to illustrate that our film is from the horror genre.

Using Prezi

I'm answering question 3 in the evaluation using prezi. I think this is a great way to present question 3 because it's very interactive and the audience is able to easily click back to each paragraph that they find more interesting. The use of different colours, enhance the readers engagement, instead of having one bland colour.

Work in Class

This is what i've been doing in lesson. I've started the question number 4 and i've decided to do a powerpoint because I can neatly organise what I am doing and what websites etc we have used.

The second picture shows the website I used to download the double feature font which I have used for the front cover of our magazine. I really like the font as it's very effective in the sense that it looks like it's melting and represents blood.

Completed Final Cover

This is our completed front over! We have kept the red, white and black theme as it links both this and the poster together. This doesn't show any disconnection between them, which I was hoping to achieve.  I used the website dafont.com for the 'essential 2012 preview' and think this works really well for the cover as it suggests that blood has been shed but also gives it a kooky feel. We uploaded minimal taglines as we wanted our film title and names to stand out, and we didn't want to distract the audience from this. We have kept original concepts of magazines, with the price, date and barcode to keep the realistic effect. I am really pleased with the finished product, as I think it works really well.

Second Front Cover Design

This was our 2nd front cover that we designed. The only difference is, is that we photoshopped the photo to enhance the quality, however we found it not as successful as the original and shall be keeping that one instead.

Our magazine cover!

This is our magazine front cover at the moment, the current cover lines etc are all in place. We are currently photoshopping our main image and just using this as a back-up to create the cover. The reason as to why we're photoshopping our main image, is to enhance the quality of it. The magazine will be put together as soon as possible and shall be discussed in further depth.

Magazine cover

This is our almost completed magazine cover, we have kept the colour theme of red, white and black throughout to keep the constant link back to our poster and trailer. The picture is of us getting ready to film our trailer and portray us as working film directors. I have also said we're rising stars to keep the suspension of us perhaps creating another film after this one. We also have props to create a comfortable feel of us being trust-worthy directors. It looks like an original magazine as we have a price and bar code.

Final Teaser Trailer

This is the final cut of our teaser trailer. I am happy with the outcome, and the use of sound throughout the piece gives the desired effect of horror and mystery. I also like the addition of the static, to give the idea that the film is more realistic, making it scarier for the audience. I took inspiration for the trailer from other films such as 'Paranormal Activity' and 'The Blair Witch Project', which both use hand held cameras. I also like the clip at the end, after the trailer has supposedly finished, as it is unexpected. The use of lighting was also edited from prior cuts, and used saturated light on clips which slowly because darker and eventually turned to night vision.

Billboard

This is a billboard I created with photoshop, I wanted to get a realistic effect and felt to a certain extent that I have achieved this. It's simple, yet effective. The fact that's it right next to a moving bus really helps create the scene.

Magazine Cover

This is our magazine which is of course in working progress. As we get our background photo things will start to slot into place and develop. However I have gone with the analysis of the Empire magazines and used certain products which are popular throughout their covers and this is having the ripped effect across the cover. I really like this effect as it looks like someone has slashed the actual cover and ties in nicely with our trailer as it contains a knife. We've kept the actual creep logo and added in our names to show we're 'rising stars' we also have the taglines in italics so it draws the readers attention.

Rough cut

this is out first rough cut of the film trailer. we are happy with the outcome so far, the second half of sound needs music and more editing is due, however we are definitely pleased with the outcome so far. the next step is to add our logo to the beginning and find music for the second half.

Jade and Liv testing out their new skills using 3d glasses. They converted the 2d poster into 3d and are reaping the rewards. They used the program photoshop and it can be viewed below.

FINAL 3D POSTER

This is our completed 3D poster which we created on photoshop. We really liked this effect as it works very effectively and the font really stands out. Also the background photo looks really defined and clean, yet still keeps the face unclear and a mystery. The reason why we chose to do this is to keep up with the mainstream market, as everyone is now turning to 3D to gain more money.

Screenshot of our trailer so far

Music has been added and the trailer is starting to fit together with music. I tried to make the music correspond with parts of the clips to help build suspense.

Final Poster

This is our final poster! And was created on photoshop and indesign. The font links together throughout the poster as it repeats nicely throughout. We also had the theme of the white and red as it really stands out from the dark background from the face. Also the red represents the theme of blood, also the the 'uneasy' font type is meant to represent scratched words for someone struggling to get away. It clearly and easily states the title, release date and who created the film. The picture works very well, as it's very dark mysterious, much like the title because the title creep, allows you to ask many questions.

These are visualisers that have been created on cbs outdoors, and we found this technique very effective.
We wanted to use our final poster for the visualiser as of course it's the finished product. This programme allowed us to resize the photo to a size that fitted the tube scene and the back of the bus. It seems very realistic and works well and we are overall very pleased with the product.

Magazine Cover Analysis

May 2011

This issue of empire magazine is from May 2011. The feature article and the front cover is X-men. The colour scheme is the classic red, and white. There is a promotion on the front cover of the two X-men magazines, and it tells that this issue is the first of two issues on the film. there is a coverline 'apocalypse now special' is made on a background of torn paper, this makes the text and heading stand out. other coverlines just have the names of renowned actors, and on the right hand side there are titles advertising reviews on films.

January 2010

This issue of empire magazine was realeased in january 2010, and the feature is iron man. the title works well wit the theme of the mazine, with a lighting bolt style affect and the blue on iron man. the colour scheme is electtric blue, grey an white, and while not emcompassing he magazine's red, there is still red on iron man himself. the colverlines incle popular movie and information in the movie industry, theres is not as muc information as the 2005 cover, below. but it's still through. i think this magazine cover is very effective and the use of photoshop is brilliantly used.
February 2005

this magazine cover is from Empire February 2005, the feature is of oceans twelve with the three main stars, Matt Damon,Brad Pitt, and George Clooney on the cover. The headline tells how the film is full of A-list stars, with coverlines including more famous actors and actresses. the other articles advertised on the front cover are under the heading 'AMAZING START TO 2005!'this is on a film reel background which adds to the film magazine genre, and is effective. other coverlines advertise articles in the magazine, by using onomatopoeia it grabs the readers attention and the titles themselves intise the reader into reading. the colour theme for this issue is black, red and grey, these colours work well together with the masculine feature and other article.

Tag Lines

In today's lesson we needed ideas for a horror tag line for our film. I looked at existing horror tag lines and incorporated my own ideas into some of the existing ones already. Max also had a great concept for the song 'when you go down to the woods today' yet adapted it to sound more 'creepy' and suits our poster. There is a clear winner and that's 'when you go down to the woods tonight....'.

Rough cut

we are editing and sewing together our footage for the first rough cut. This will give us a basis for our final product.  It gives us a base to build upon. we are cutting and editing our footage to give it a day-to-night process, which will give a chronological order. we have also put text screens in and fade-to-black screens. this helps us chop and connect together footage more effectively and tell the story.
